Was wondering if anyone had experience with DD's going to local collages during their junior or senior years of high school and how it effected recruiting.

My two nieces did it, and it knocked off a year of collage. My DD's are only 7th graders but like this idea.

They both have 3.8+ grades and want to play ball in collage.

Question is depending on what major they pick if they are only going to be there 3 years are coaches going to look at that as a negative.

No idea how taking college classes during the childs high school years would effect recruiting.

I personally think it is a great idea if those credit hour will transfer from college to college. Here is how I would look at it. If a child took a couple of core classes like math, english, economics at local community college it could give the child the opportunity to take a lesser load of classes during the spring semesters when the softball players has so much on their table between softball and full load of college classes.

Very interested in hearing how this type of situation worked from people who have already been through this process. Would also like to hear if many of the girls take classes over the summer to lighten the work load during the spring semester.

I would think graduating in 3 years would be extremely difficult for a girl playing college softball on scholarship. Not my dd but this is a story about a local college softball player that is currently playing softball in college. She has a full ride between athletic and academic scholarships, she is the #1 pitcher, and is studying to become a nurse. She will not be allowed to take her clinical classes during the spring semester due to conflicts with the softball season, she is a senior this year. She will have to return to college after her college softball career is over to complete the clinicals that she can't complete this coming spring semester. No idea if the college is going to pay for the extra semester but I would imagine that cost is coming out of her pocket. Just an example of how it would be very difficult to graduate in 3 years while playing college softball on a scholarship.
