DD contacted several coaches with her schedule for Scenic City this weekend. At least 2 coaches watched her on Saturday. Unfortunately her Saturday stat line was 1 for 6 with 2 stolen bases, 2 strikeouts, and infield fly and a line drive lost in the lights. Her Sunday stat line was 3 for 7 with 2 homeruns an outfield assist, and a game saving over the shoulder catch at the fence in the last inning of the last game. When you email the coaches to thank them for coming is it ok to include how you did that weekend or is it bad form? Do you only email coaches you know were at your games or all the coaches you contacted initially?

Yes, give them stats as well as thank them for coming. At one camp a coach said "out of sight is out of mind, so keep consistent contact up". Be sure to call them by name when you email, but it's ok to give them the good and the bad of the weekend. Include video if you have any. Good luck.

Definitely include all stats. Have her mention any adjustments or changes in approach that she made at the plate for Sunday.

Include good stuff about teammates showing that you are a great team player. You don't have to give a play by play and you don't have to be too serious either. Have fun with it to show your DD's personality, drive, team support, etc. Give the coaches something they will remember. Coaches are more likely to open emails that include videos and links to Youtube pages. Be consistent with your marketing efforts such as emails, snail mail, postcards, and phone calls.

Your DD needs to be her own best advocate, but do not pump too much sunshine. Also talk about what she learned when she failed.

SBdad6,
This is a great thread. We've never included stats in the "thank-you for coming" or showcase recaps. We've consistently heard from coaches that it's just not about what you do between the lines, but also before/after games and when in the dugout. So is sending stats good or tacky? I'm still on the fence about it and would love to hear more opinions!!!

We used postcards to help with my DD's recruiting process. It helped her stand out from the 1000s of emails coaches get every week. We did one post card that included my DD's picture on the front and showcase schedule on the back and had another that was blank on the back that she used for thank you notes. It keep the thank you notes short and sweet and we mailed them daily during the showcases so my DD did not get behind.

JAD helped me 3 years ago with a template and the post card idea, which we have done the last 3 years. The postcards are sticky. They are less likely to throw away a postcard, but are more likely to not open an email or delete it quickly. They have to physically put it in the trash! We no longer have to do that since DD committed last Friday, which is a crazy not so crazy story in itself. You have to stand out in your marketing efforts. As far as stats are concerned, I would keep it situational and less on the numbers side (boring. yawn) How is your DD a great teammate? If they are playing TB they can play ball.

During DD's campus visit the coaches didn't say anything about her stats. NADA! They talked about her attitude, how she supported her teammates and how she controlled the field, and how they need good kids on the team, bench and locker room. It also helps that the College coach knows DD's TB coach on a personal level. He likes that they play against the best competition and are ready to play at the next level when they arrive on campus.

Those are the intangibles that you need to figure out how to highlight in your communications.

I am sure there are tons of online retailers that can print the postcards. We used VistaPrint and had very good luck with them. If you sign up to get their digital coupons you can save 30-40% on your orders. I also created a excel spreadsheet data based that we used to blast email the coaches my DD's showcase schedule. I would be happy to share the data base if anyone is interested, but it is several years old and the info would need to be verified/corrected.
