I wanted to see where everyone played this weekend and how the coaches attendance was. We played in the 14U Super Pools at the Scenic City and I was not impressed with the turnout. Even games between great teams had less than we were drawing this past summer at the Legacy.

Did one of the other big ones ones draw better? The Champions Showcase was just a couple of hours from Chattanooga and I know the Bombers Showcase was this weekend also.

We were at Champions and saw two coaches the whole weekend, none on Sunday at all. It was spread over several parks, so I can't say what the coverage was across parks and across age groups. We are second year 14U, so I expected to see more, but maybe we just weren't in the right place at the right time.

If the players are contacting the coaches, they will be there. If not, then there is no reason to expect them to come see you play. We only had less than a dozen watching us the entire weekend, but they were mostly the ones the kids had contacted. As a result it was a very good.

We were there as well. We were playing in the 12u division on Sunday. We were pumped...we had the Ga coach stop by to watch one inning at the right time. He decided to come watch one of his verbal commits sister's 12u team. Our coach also talked with the Arkansas coach in the parking lot as well on Sunday am. our first showcase, good stuff..

That's one reason I was wondering. DD has been invited back for camp a second time to one of her top 5's and we know they are interested. The assistant coach there this this weekend was trying to catch a game but she was spread so thin. Trying to watch girls at three parks by herself while the other coaches were at different showcases doing the same thing. We heard the same thing from more than one school and seeing some of the coaches twitter posts makes me wonder if having these on the same weekend makes it harder for the schools to see the kids they want.

ProSwings 50 in Orlando was crawling with coaches. We were not playing there, but we will absolutely be there next year.

BackwardsK in Jacksonville is always good as well, though ProSwings may have taken a few coaches away from attending this year.

But Riseball is right - for the most part, you have to help get them there.

Champions showcase this weekend for us as well. We were at Twin Creeks for one game Saturday (second game rained out) and at Patriot's Park on Sunday. Learned some good lessons this weekend. Most parents were grumbling about not seeing college coaches. There were a TON of college coaches at both parks this weekend, and this was not the Top Flight park either day. Delaware, Georgia, Georgia State, Auburn, South Alabama, Huntington, Young Harris, Berry, Emory, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw and tons more I can't remember at the moment. I know because I volunteered in the hospitality tent for a while. The sign in list was quite impressive, and the coaches did a very good job of staying incognito most of the weekend. A few coaches were apparent and chatted with coaches or parents. But most quietly slipped in and out of games unnoticed. And they hear everything the parents say and see what your children are doing when they think no one is watching. So be careful everyone! The big showcases listed here had plenty of coaches, I am sure of it. Just because you don't spot them doesn't mean they aren't there.

We were at one of less prestigious parks at Scenic City and there were a lot of obvious college coaches there. DD emailed 8 schools and the head coach from 1 D1 and 1 D3 came and watched one of her games that we know of. Can't say for sure if they were there to see her but they did get to see her play. Between myself and our college liaison we came up with 20 colleges over the two days at the complex. We were happy with the number of colleges represented but you definitely have to do your work if you want them come watch you. DD hit a HR into the parking lot on 200' fence that was 12' tall. It amounted to way less than 1% of her total playing time for the weekend. Unfortunately the odds of a coach stopping by out of the blue and seeing that moment are very low. I am thankful for the advice here to do the work to contact coaches.

We played in SC. I noticed between 15-20 coaches came by, including 4 SEC coaches. Some were checking in on their commits I'm sure (18U). The new Auburn coach stayed for 2 games on Sunday.

We played the Bombers Exposure at the Scrapyard Complex. Lots of coaches even up to our last game which ended at 5pm on Sunday. If you didn't see any coaches at your complex, they must have been in Houston!!!
