So Cal
Eric, I do not know and have not talked to him. I do know that he is the type of guy that is player first. I know he has a vision and have talked to him before about what he wants to achieve. He is concerned with both the student and the athlete. I don' think I have posted this before on this site but if I have, I apologize. Coach Glasco came to look at BB when he was at Georgia. He was straight forward about her abilities and where she might fit in in that program. Then, he went out of his way to make several contacts to help BB out. I don't remember just how many offers BB got after that but it was over 10 and most had not seen BB play. These were some outstanding programs. Coach Glasco and I are friends. In saying that, I wish I had another child who could play for him. If you have ever met the players who have played for him, they all love him.

One other comment. BB and her TB team played the Chicago Bandits. Some of Coach's players were on that team. BB did really well against the Bandits and hit a bomb and double. When those players found out our relationship with Coach, they asked BB to eat with their team after the game. That was really special for my kid. Again, it showed me the love that they have for Coach.

I hope Coach Glasco has much success at ULL. Every comment I have ever read about him - including many from you - has been positive. I was curious about Sanders' move to Oregon, and if there might be any connection to the fact that Geri Ann also was also at Oregon. Just hypothesizing...Maybe Sanders was deeply bothered by the dismissal of Lotief, and no longer wanted to play for the school that removed him. If that's the case, maybe Glasco reached out to Mike White to find a spot on a top-level program for a top-level player. Being that the Ducks' SS graduated last year, I would guess that White was pretty open to it.

Good question Eric.

Softball at that level of play is just like any other sport, or business for that matter. Expectations and alot of $ on the table. It's all about connections, for better or in some cases, for worse. It's the same for players, coaches, trainers, managers. I'm guessing the player you mentioned didn't end up at Oregon by accident.

Although I don't know Coach Glasco and don't follow the situation too closely, I'd have to imagine that job comes with some pretty red flags. I do know a former assistant under Coach Lotief, and am under the understanding that Coach Lotief had to battle with the administration for competitive pay for his assistants. This late into the off-season, I'd guess there's ULL AD connections there and since they're in a bind and solidly on the radar map, made a recruitment bid. If ULL admin did indeed lock down the ranks, kudos to Coach Glasco for taking the bull by the horns and doing right for those athletes recruited by the previous coach.

No, Glasco had nothing to do with facilitating Sanders transfer to Oregon. That was done by Lotief. He and White have a relationship. The same with Candrea. That is why 2 former Cajuns transferred to Arizona within the past week. With all of these departures, there is not much left in the cupboard for Glasco.

In reading the universities statements contained on numerous websites, they were not allowing anyone to transfer. That was in place, as I understand it, until GG took over. How could Coach Lotief allow this person to transfer if he was suspended? That doesn't fit the timeline. I am confused so it you can clear this up some, I'd appreciate it.

Sounds like there may be two sides this coin. Side 1 is Glasco getting the university to ease up on their previous stance re: transfers. Side 2 may be Lotief using his relationships with White and Candrea to help get former players connected there.

Lotief might have a good connection with White. However, Glasco's DD played for White for 2 years, and was a student asst. coach last year. There is certainly the possibility of a Glasco-White connection, as well.

In reality, we're all just guessing.

Maybe White will have a new hitting coach on his staff that likes teaching players how to hit the ball really far?
Ya, I'd pay to see that team play on internet TV! :D
How would Lotief look in green or bright yellow? :D
