I felt bad for the losing pitcher. She had 2 strikes on every batter except the first baserunner and the last hit.
Good lesson in not giving up, though!

4 run lead, 2 outs and no runners and they cant get 1 out to end the game? Think the radar gun is a little optimistic also, little hard to believe she threw a 67 mph drop ball. And if she was throwing that hard, she needs to put some changeups in there.

Like many have said, it’s not over till it is over. DD has been on both sides of the scenario too— team down and by the grace of the softball gods, were able to build momentum and come back to win, all in the last inning (always amazing to see!) or those unfortunate days, when it looks like it is in the bag, but one error snowballs into more errors and before you know it....that win you thought was yours is now a loss (always a tough situation because you want them to learn from their mistakes but you don’t want to start placing blame and finger-pointing at certain players). Just another day on the field.

Ok, had to throw mine in. Pool play state tournament. Down 10-1, time expired, two outs. My DD comes up. Hits a blooper to right for a single. We small ball and scratch our way to win 11-10 with two outs and time expired. Craziest game i ever saw. Just timely hits and small ball...

Last fall in 16u, we’re up by 1, time expires as the batter steps in. One of those finish the batter tournaments where games can end in a tie. Runner on 1st, irrelevant how many outs because this is the last batter no matter what. All you gotta do is walk her, right? Our pitcher is throwing tic tacs, nobody is hitting her very well. I’m sitting next to the hitter’s dad, who leans over and says I can relax because his daughter is 0 for the weekend. Big sigh of relief.
