What is wrong with people anymore?

Could mean he lost them and is avoiding the problem.

Takes a lifetime to build a reputation, and one bad choice to ruin it.

You can try to file a claim with paypal if you didn't pay friends and family, but even then I think it's been so long they may tell you they can't do anything about it. Not sure how they would handle the fact he still has possession of the gloves but you could get your money back at least. It wouldn't hurt to try.
