Yeah, I think Eric has commented on the Liberty being heavier than the All-Star, but by how much? Is it that noticeable? I've only handled the 34" Worth Liberty from a couple years back.

The CMW4000 is light enough where you say, "Wow. This is pretty light!". The Rawlings/Worth LA-series, not so much. For younger players, this can be an issue. The palm padding in the LA-series mitts is more substantial than the 4000, but I have no problem recommending the 4000 for a 10U-12U TB player. It's a really good mitt.

Drakemir's recommendation for a Vinci Fortus is a good call, too.

the two new models (one is linked in my post) are exceptional - you would never guess that its a <100 dollar glove handling it.

Exactly! DD is pretty little as mentioned above, but she is strong. The second she picked up the Liberty Advanced she knew it wasn't for her. It was "that" much heavier. DD catches a pitcher who hovers around 57-59 (according to the pitching coach?? - I'm a catcher/CF parent so I know nothing except it sure makes a loud pop when it hits the glove!) and she has never complained about sting with her All Star. She actually tried the Vinci Fortus too - and really liked it, but at the time we could only find a blue one and she wanted brown.

A Vinci JCV-VM would be the last catchers mitt you ever purchased with a little TLC...

Man JAD, ya'll must grow some monsters in Georgia, I don't know a 9 year old alive that could handle a Kip leather JCV-VM. At least her dad would have 3 years to beat the crap out of it before she turned 12, and then realized she still couldn't use it!:p

DD just let us know that she has put a new glove on her Christmas list. Hers is 3-4 yrs old. She says she needs more padding to catch the 60+mph fast pitches her college teammates throw at her. She currently has a 34" not sure what brand H weave. She's 5'7". How is the padding on these? Any other suggestions?

Vinci JCV34. Best padding available. She won't need another mitt for the rest of her college career.

The padding on the All-Star is excellent, more than adequate! I personally like my CMW3000 more than my Vinci JCV-22, but that’s just me. But, I have to agree 100% with Eric, if it padding she’s after, go with the Vinci. And again as Eric said, should be the last mitt you guys have to buy.

As far as other suggestions, google Rawlings custom builder and play around with building a custom. I’d love to have a custom Rawlings with true Heart of the Hide leather, but it’ll definitely cost more than a All-Star or a Vinci....
