Been working on skills videos and computer has been hanging up in IE, Chrome, etc. Also running slow. I've checked for viruses and all software updates and all is good.

Anybody recommend any software to optimize computer with respect to speed and performance? Looking for anything free. My computer is about 3 years old but still higher end model.

Run task manager and see if you are maxed out on ram usage when you notice it hanging up. If you run out of physical memory (ram) then the computer uses swap space (disk based) and it's game over. Only then do you need more RAM.

try un checking hardware acceleration in chrome settings advanced.

just went through this. In fact have the window still opened!

Chrome, settings, advanced, then system then un check hardware acceleration.

I've done the above recommendations but still no noticeable difference in performance. Thanks for the heads up on CCleaner. Will continue as I don't want to get another computer. LOL
