My DD has been to a lot of clinics/camps. This past weekend she attended one with Austin Wasserman, and Lincoln Martin. I would say this is by far one of the better clinics for the money!! Kid to instructor ratio was great.
We have been to a couple of Rick Pauley’s clinics, Austin started off with a power point as well explaining why he teaches, what he teaches, and the science to back it up. I was pretty surprised to see a few key terms also such as internal rotation, and pronation used.
Just like in pitching he also speaks to the disapproval of wrist flicks in warming up throwing.
I don’t know if Austin and Rick talk, but they for sure have similarities in the presentations, guess science is science!!

Drove 16 hours, was well worth the drive!! Now DD needs to get to work :D:D:D

You tried that place? I live about an hour away but DD's hitting coach is about 5 miles from where the clinic was held and just told me I should check it out.

We probably saw you leaving when we arrived. That's quite a distance to drive but I agree that it was a great clinic. I was even able to hang around and pick Austin's brain for a while after they wrapped up.

Honestly we weren't up to anything so I said why not. DD big goals this winter are to work on improving her glove and throwing. We feel the clinic gave her some drills we can use to get her in the right direction.

We thought the mudhole was pretty damn good!!

I've had Austin's ebook for a few years so I had seen and talked to DD about most of the items discussed but it was good for her to hear it from him and get hands on demonstrations.

I was really impressed with the infield work she got too. It was quite a bit more in depth than I thought it would be. She told me she was glad she went and felt like she learned a lot. She even talked to me about which drills she liked which doesn't normally happen.

Now - see... how did you talk to DD about Austin's ebook? I bought it a few weeks ago and went through it and all of its links to videos in the ebooks- but I'm going to find it hard to show it to her that way. You had his ebook open on a computer and went through it together- clicking on all the links? I have a feeling I'm going to have to find one of his clinics instead. But wish I hadn't have bought his ebook first though. ugh

Basically I read it and watched all of the videos until I was comfortable with it. Then I started going through the steps with my DD after that. I would explain the drill to her and show her what I wanted her to do and then show her the videos from his site. Honestly she was too young at the time (10) so she was limited in what she got out of it but I plan on revisiting it with her this winter now that she went to the clinic and she is older (will be 13 this winter). I think she'll get a lot more out of it now.
