Need some advice. My DD from time to time feels light headed during games. She drinks water and only water all week maybe a soda once a week but mostly water. Her diet isn't the best but it's pretty awesome for a teenager. Almost no sweets turkey wraps for lunch fruit cups etc... she's had blood work done etc.. not sure what to do.

Has she tried drinking a sports drink (Gatorade or the like) on days that she's exercising? When it's cool DD usually drinks me stay water but if it's hot she alternates.

Gotta start hydrating a day or two before a tournament, especially for catchers, who sweat more than more. Drink lots of water game day too. We have found that a 50/50 water/gatorade mix works best. If she gets really dehydrated, carry a Pedialite with you and drink that.

Maybe I'm wrong but she hydrates all the time 5-6 bottles of water daily and a ton in game days. She's a outfield/ infield. Game day she will go through 2 big jugs of water and a Gatorade or two.

I'm assuming you are talking about getting light headed during a weekend tournament.

My guess is that she isn't eating enough the day before the games. Remember that there is a 30 minute to 1 hour workout before each game. So, she is burning a lot of calories.

This article from the Mayo Clinic about carb loading might help.

As others have said, make sure she eats something. Ideally something really healthy but even Subway or something like that helps. DD is never hungry on game
days as she gets nervous but if I can get her to eat something good it helps.

Does she have, or your family have a history of LOW blood pressure?
Like others have said, Gatorade/electrolytes, and eat lots of food the day before tournaments/multiple games.

Light headed from over exertion? Or just normal running, in normal temps?
Is she an outfielder who is running in and out of the field all of the time, and chasing balls?

Any head injuries/severe concussions?
She had an EEG or MRI?

Added:
Does she eat alot of bananas, or have a diet high in Potassium and low in sodium?

Any chance it's related to breathing? like anxiety or asthma?

We are pretty sure my DD has developed some allergy induced asthma during the height of hayfever season and will probably need to medicate for it next year. Causes her to get short of breath and a bit light headed.
