Are there any NCAA recruiting rules against having a D1 asst coach as a hitting instructor? It's not a school DD is interested in playing for. I'm having difficulty understanding if this violates any of the Coach contact rules if it doesn't involve any recruiting discussions.

For those much more knowledgeable about NCAA restrictions, can you point me to the rule or rules that show this is ok or not? Thanks.

To my understanding it is not, but the school must open it up like a "hitting camp", which means open to anyone. MTSU does this with their asst coach Ashley Lane, in past years.

I believe there are rules but not against it so to speak. If the kid is in 9th grade+ it has to be a group I think. I think any 8th grader and below can do individually. I had my DD hitting with DI coaches a couple of years ago and this is how it was explained to me.

I tried to read the rules and they confuse me. I know that several coaches run hitting clinics that run for several weeks which are basically group lessons.

My DD took hitting lessons from a D1 coach. She told us that if they are 9th grade or older, it has to be a group lesson (3 or more students), 8th and younger the rule doesn't apply. There are also black periods where the 9th and up lessons are not allowed to happen at all. This was 2 years ago...

We had this situation several years ago. DD's hitting coach got a D1 AC job, told us that if anyone asks, these are group lessons.
