Rather anticlimactic ending to a playoff game

My daughter was pitching the last inning of the first-round of league playoffs. Her team had a sizable lead, but with unlimited last inning, we were not completely relaxing. The game was against a team they played earlier in the summer, and that team tied up the game in the bottom of the last inning.

There were two outs, runners on first and second from single and a walk. Two strikes on the batter when she swung and missed. The catcher dropped the ball, and the batter started walking away from the plate. The catcher went for the tag and bobbled the ball, which fell to the ground. All of our teams parents groaned with frustration, thinking the batter was going to make it to first. We didn't know what was going on as we watched the batter walk into the dugout, and she was called out. Game over.

Strange to see the last out of a game coming from a batter walking into the dugout.

What is the most anticlimactic ending you have ever seen?

Tied game, bottom of the last inning - winner goes to tournament final... We are up to bat and have a runner on third. Umpire calls an illegal pitch. It was a weird situation and almost no-one understood what had happened.

The other coach thought that our batter had 3 strikes (dropped 3rd) but the pitcher already had the ball back and the batter was still standing in the box waiting for a pitch. It was only 2 strikes.

The coach yelled to the pitcher to throw the ball to first, which she did.

The umpire called an illegal pitch because she had already started her delivery and interrupted her pitch to turn and throw the ball to 1st.

PanAm Championship (?) many moons ago. Cat in circle, Team USA up by enough and two outs. Runner on first screws around and gets called for a circle violation. Blue bangs her out and Game Over and umpires walk off field. Announcers, fans, and even some players wondering what just happened. Instead of players celebrating after the final out they sort of milled about, high fived and then walked off field. Interview afterword Cat said the same player had been "screwing around all game" and it was surprising it was not called sooner.

Then of course there was the Chelsea Wilkenson shoelace debacle a couple of years back. Still feel bad for her about that one. If she had only dropped the ball. :)

tie game, bottom of 7th, Runners on 2B, 3B, 2 outs.
LH Batter had hit well all game, so coach calls for a pitch-out to load the bases.
Ball 1, 2. just fine.
Ball 3 catches a little too much of the strike zone for comfort.
Ball 4 catcher sets up with foot outside of the catcher's box.
IP called.
Game over.

Can't say how many times I've seen a botched pitch-out end a game in 18U and below fastpitch!

Last 2 stories Im sure were followed by the losing coach screaming,

"HOW CAN YOU CALL THAT AT THIS POINT OF THE GAME!!!!???? LET THE GIRLS PLAY!"

Not trying to start a stalling chat, but every an umpire yells ballgame during the middle of an at bat and the game is over.

On the OP am I missing something or is the game tied?

High school game, home team down by 1, bases loaded and 2 outs. Teams best batter at the plate. But, a little back story from earlier in game, said batter starts every at bat lefty but if she got to 2 strikes would switch to right batters box. She did it one time just before the pitcher had engaged the pitching plate. As coach was walking past I told her she may want to tell her batter to call time before she stepped across plate just in case pitcher was in position to pitch. Coach acknowledged it and thanked me for letting her know.

Back to the at bat. Batter has gotten to 2 strikes and is taking signals from coach. Pitcher has engaged the pitching plate and has received her signal from catcher. Suddenly batter steps across the plate to other batters box. Dead ball, batter out and game over. And as I posted above, immediately followed by coach yelling about how could I call that in that situation at that point in the game.

Illegal pitch call with a runner on 3rd would advance the runner home and end the game.

Ignore the above, was reading the 2nd post not the 1st and now it wont let me delete this one.
