So Cal
On the OP am I missing something or is the game tied?

I believe he's saying that the last time they played that team, they tied it in the bottom of the last inning. In other words, they had a sizeable lead, but needed to remain vigilant against a team that had come back on them before.

The Chelsea Wilkenson debacle was painful, such a good pitcher losing the game on such an everyday, mundane problem. Never heard about the PanAm Championship game, that might be the ultimate in anticlimactic games.

tie game, bottom of 7th, Runners on 2B, 3B, 2 outs.
LH Batter had hit well all game, so coach calls for a pitch-out to load the bases.
Ball 1, 2. just fine.
Ball 3 catches a little too much of the strike zone for comfort.
Ball 4 catcher sets up with foot outside of the catcher's box.
IP called.
Game over.

Can't say how many times I've seen a botched pitch-out end a game in 18U and below fastpitch!

Oh, that is painful.

Not trying to start a stalling chat, but every an umpire yells ballgame during the middle of an at bat and the game is over.

I wouldn't call those anticlimactic, I would call those painful.

The game against the team during the regular season ended in a tie, the playoff game my daughter's team had a lead.

High school game, home team down by 1, bases loaded and 2 outs. Teams best batter at the plate. But, a little back story from earlier in game, said batter starts every at bat lefty but if she got to 2 strikes would switch to right batters box. She did it one time just before the pitcher had engaged the pitching plate. As coach was walking past I told her she may want to tell her batter to call time before she stepped across plate just in case pitcher was in position to pitch. Coach acknowledged it and thanked me for letting her know.

Back to the at bat. Batter has gotten to 2 strikes and is taking signals from coach. Pitcher has engaged the pitching plate and has received her signal from catcher. Suddenly batter steps across the plate to other batters box. Dead ball, batter out and game over. And as I posted above, immediately followed by coach yelling about how could I call that in that situation at that point in the game.

Sounds gut wrenching to me.

Eric, thank you for being clear, when I was not.

We were playing our rec league's championship game. We're home up 11-3 going to another inning, about 25 minutes left. There's a 6 run per inning rule. We were playing great up until that inning and then totally fell apart. Our pitcher lost the strikezone and walked a bunch, and we couldn't make a play in the field. The 6th run scored ending the inning and half the girls were in tears coming off the field. The inning took forever so there was only 4 or 5 minutes left. We had two girls hit, time expired, game over and we're champions. You would've thought we lost with how upset the girls still were.

I hope the girls got some perspective on the win at a later date, but it must have been disappointing not having the sweet taste of victory.

It is amazing how that happens. I had the reverse happen. My twin daughters playing third and catching on a very weak C team. They were getting crushed after the first two innings, and there was no way they were coming back. Later in the game when my girls were on the field, runners on 2nd and 3rd. Hard grounder hit to third base, my 3rd base daughter checked the runner at second and threw home to her sister, and got her out at home. It was the best play of the game, possibly of the summer, and beautiful to watch. At home we told my wife about it, we were so excited you would have thought we won the game.

They did a bit. A few days later we had our end of season party and it was the last season for five of the girls (including my DD) because they are starting HS, so that was bittersweet as well.
