Seeing discussion about different organizations made me wonder what is everyone's opinion of the best one in your specific region of the US. We are in the Southeast and from what I have seen USSSA has the highest level of competition and seems to be pretty well run. This is in comparison to USFA, FASA, and PONY.

In Indiana USSSA. PGF is just starting and has some very competitive tournaments at the older ages in NW Indiana thanks to Bill and his Bandits.

I'm in GA and I love USSSA's website but for the actual tournaments I love ASA. The tournaments put on by the guy out of Marietta (I'm blanking on his name) are so well run. They have score keepers, they drag and reline the fields between games, they keep on time, they get good umps ftmp. Much better than USSSA tourneys or any other sanction IMO. But I love playing USSSA because I'm such a planner and I can see everything in advance on their site.

In Indiana USSSA.
The problem with USSSA in Indiana is that they hold their large events (State and "Nationals") in Columbus, Indiana. Any rain before or during the tournament wrecks the whole tournament. Any amount of rain chops of the losers brackets. It's been a circus the last two times we have tried their larger USSSA events.

He needs to split the age groups and get out of Columbus Indiana if he wants to do well in Indiana. The upper tiered organizations simply aren't going to put up with that (and you can tell by who is not coming to those events).

Right now in the southern Ms, La, Al, and Fl panhandle region it is hands down USSSA/ Jeff Strode, imo. Ms Elite running tourneys in Brandon, Ms will continue to grow even larger, they run things well and have a 15 field softball complex.

Agree with this...but at least right now no good teams are playing any other sanctions either. When they play other sanctions they go to NW Indiana or other states.

Out here in NorCal, PGF has the best competition, then USA (ASA), then USSSA. Triple crown has some good events, but they are more south. All the good teams out here chase a PGF berth every spring

Agree with jsoftballcoach, as far as the big tournaments go (qualifiers, states, etc.) Haven't seen Triple Crown locally, and NSA still does a good job with their State, West Pac in the Fall, and Nationals in Reno. If you're talking regular tournaments that happen every week, then it's USSSA generally. PGF and USA have had some real clunkers, especially USA.

We played the National tournament in Columbus, IN this year and that was a bummer getting rained out the second day. But anyway, rain can happen anywhere and I don't think you can blame the location on mother nature. Florida, hosts a lot of tournaments and I thought they got more rain down there. I think the problem with Columbus, In is that there is not much else going on in Columbus, Indiana. Not the most exciting place. Yes, they have a surprising amount of fields in that town, but why not have it in Indianapolis or more specifically at Grand Park.

We don't really care about the letters in front of the tournament - it's more about the competition for us. ASA may be well run, but around here in GA, with a few exceptions, most of the ASA tournaments are B level, or will have 2-3 A teams and 10 or so B or below teams. The A teams are playing lots of USSSA and USSSA elite tournaments here, not because it's USSSA, but because that's where the other top teams are playing. Several of the big orgs host tournaments and have been using USSSA. Only time we play PGF is at nationals. If it was called XYZ nationals we would still go provided the level of competition is top notch. For us it's not about the org - it's the on the field product.
