In each of the Premiere Division's Age groups not one Cali team finished on top. And the Texas Dirt Divas won the 14U Premiere division and they are a single team program. Pretty impressive. As I mentioned in previous posts, there is some really great softball going on around this country.

Beverly Bandits won the 18u, and 16u Premier PGF National Championships. Beverly Bandits also finished tied for 3rd at 12u in the PFG Premier Division. The other 16u Bandit team finished tied for 3rd at PGF also.

There is very good softball talent all across the United States.

A few observations:

Take a look at the some of these "real" Gold teams players and where they are from. Bandits have players from 9 states, T-bolts 7 states, Wichita Mustangs 6 states, and the list goes on. In essence a lot of these teams are almost like a college team pulling players from around the country vs teams that are all local. For Texas teams it is the exception that you find an out of state player or out of region on a roster. In Texas you have primarily 3 regions that teams originate. DFW, Houston and Austin/San Antonio (I-35 corridor). Most of the time those teams pull players from within those areas. My DD's team had 5 girls from the same HS.

The Cali teams will also squeeze in 20+ players in their dugouts from different teams in their orgs. I was watching the after game Hi 5 line on Flosports and I thought it would never end.

I am sure the Cali contingent was not too happy about going 0 fer in the Premier Division.

That is a very accurate assessment for some of the top teams in the nation. It would be much more difficult for the teams from the midwest to compete without recruiting in a very large area (for the most part). I hate to say it being that I am from Illinois but the kids from Texas, California, Florida, etc are just more athletic on average. You see the superior athleticism in all outdoor sports from those areas in football, baseball, softball, track and field.

I personally think that weather and the extended training seasons is big a factor in overall athleticism. Here in the midwest it is more difficult to train throughout the year. It is also gets quite expensive to train indoors during the winter months.

This exact conversation happened over dinner tonight. Organizations use these girls to promote and sell to younger girls parents dreams of college. Agree with most everything in this thread. Parents we talked to were shocked to learn the truth about the older teams composition.

What's crazy to me is when 10U teams have girls from all over the country, parents flying in w/ players for weekend tournaments, etc. Not something I'd be up for for a 9 or 10 year old.

There is a local organization that flagrantly "stacks" their roster with ringers to go to nationals. I always wonder how the parents on the team whose DD's played all season felt about them warming the bench in the one tournament that matters...I guess they just want to be able to brag to their friends about how the team finished.

Just one over there? One org from your area in our age group took close to 20 to 10U nationals a couple in 2014.

I am sure there is more than one, especially at other age groups, I was just referring to one 18U team that is more flagerant about it than others.
