Travesty? Don't think so. Held accountable for their actions yes...

There is probably more to the story. I would guess there were more social media posts by all those involved.

I think the punishment far outweighs the crime is this situation. Inappropriate to hold children to a much higher standard than we hold 'adult' public figures and officials.

Yeah, what other punishment could there be?

Little League can't allow a team the opportunity to win the World Series after a stunt like that.

What does this coach believe LL should have done? Made them do pushups?

What should the punishment be?

I don't see how Little League can allow a team that does this to win its most prestigious tournament. What message would that send?

I think that Little League players should be held to an even higher standard that adult professional sports teams, btw. Little League exists in part to promote sportsmanship and certain values. Adult professional sports exist to make money and entertain.

Kirkland doesn't seem to be lighting the world on fire with their sportsmanship either. They had a base runner and coach ejected during the game.....

6 kids in a photo giving the finger. Whole team punished.

I would like to hear the rest of the story. I found it odd that they were disqualified and the team they beat took their place. I have a hard time with a defeated team being given a spot in the finals. If LL had the stones they should have awarded the championship to the other team in the finals. This was a case of the LL wanting a TV product.

I find the fact that the host organizations team was promoted to the finals after losing to be unseemly and suspect.

Little league has always held their players, coaches, umpires etc to a higher standard. You cross the line of sportsmanship and decent behavior and you are gone. I have seen freedom of speech arguments being bantered around on another site. Freedom of speech does not protect from the ramifications of your speech. You can say anything you like about your employer that is your freedom, it is also your employers freedom to show you the door.

Yes, Im sure financial considerations played into putting the losing team back into the tournament. Little league sold a television package and you cant just cancel a televised game. Sponsors and advertisers all paid significant amounts of money for advertising during that television broadcast.

you won the game, acted like a punk and expected to be treated like a princess? in this age of enabling kids to do whatever they want, this sends the correct message that YOU will be held accountable for YOUR actions. Period.

Little league is pretty clear with behavior/sportsmanship requirements of those who choose to participate- if any of them, ever choose to read what they are signing, is another story.

Another thing, the only thing worse than a poor loser is a poor winner!
