Just behind home plate
We just ended our summer softball season without too much drama besides two injuries. Most of our departing girls started our round Robin tournament final...everyone played. As far as injuries, our HC DD1 had a shoulder problem to where she had to be pulled in the second and catcher #2 did something to her ankle. We won the game 8-4 and went 6-2 for the weekend. We all hugged in the home plate area and we were all crying before we congratulated the other team with tears streaming down our cheeks. We all hugged and cryed more in the dugout. We all have pictures commemorating our team along with memories of a great summer. We also went out as a team afterward and had pizza and ice cream last night. Tonight, we have a final hoorah at HC's house for a pool party.

Did you guys do anything like this at the end of your summer season?

That is awesome. Sounds like a great group of girls! This is what it should all be about!

The first year DD played they did a huge parent v girls whiffle ball game, pizza party and water balloons. No one wanted to leave - it was awesome.

This year DD's team barely even said goodbye to each other. Everyone packed up and went home like any other day. DD was very frustrated with her teams lack of effort in their final 2 tourneys and their attitudes after. Probably what contributed to her deciding to move on after 4 years.

Gabby that's a great way to end the season!

KPower described last years team only on the last day, several were hung over most of them didn't want to be there. DD was in tears on the ride home but not because it had been a great season.

This year was a new team and a new organization. the team had too many holes and lost more than they won- but they had great chemistry.
Everyone was glad to be there and we were all sad on the ride home from the last tournament, which was the last game they would ever play together, though they appear to have developed a strong bond. next year DD, the coach and one or two other players are moving "up" to a more competitive team in the organization, but otherwise everyone is moving on.

Our 18U team had a great end-of-year party. We always send the seniors off in style - gifts from the other players, the underclassmen talk about each senior in turn, sharing favorite memories, funny stories, etc. More than a few tears.

Sounds like a great year and a great team to be a part of. DDs team back in the 12u days always had an end of year party at the city swimming pool. One year we played a team from a town about 30 minutes away so many times. Every tournament we went to it seemed we always played this other team. So our girls became friends with the girls from the other team. We invited that team, and all their families to come and be a part of our end of year party. They took us up on the offer and it was a great time.
