Besides, the numbers that count are things like WHIP. Velocity is just one path the numbers that count.
The only time I have ever timed my daughter was at 9 years old at the the college camp and the same camp at 10. At 9 during the month of December 38 mph and at 10 she was at 46. If that was 46 she's around 52 now. I think she really throws on a good day between 46 and 49. Guns don't matter. Location and spin with crispness is the key IMO. She played 12U all year and could have played 10U. Average speed for 12U.

Pitching is a lot like real estate.

c) There is very little objective evidence that even advanced pitchers (other than Osterman) have more than three pitches (a fastball, a movement pitch, and a change). The objective evidence is that most pitchers have only two pitches. In the 2017 CWS, most pitchers threw a bullet spin fastball and a change. Only two pitchers (Kelly Barnhill being one) threw a rise. There was one pitcher who threw a drop. There were no curves or screwballs.

That is simply not true. Paige Parker throws a very, very good curveball. Maybe you just didn't watch the National Champions play this year or last?
