Not that this will likely be an issue :)p ) but if my DD was being recruited by Stanford or an SEC team, knowing that in women's sports playing at the professional level is likely not going to set her up for life, I would strongly suggest she go with Stanford. Of course not everybody thinks that way and is probably one of the reasons why Stanford has been struggling of late. It will be Allister's job to make kids think this way.

I went to Tufts for undergrad and Duke for grad school and now teach at University of Oklahoma. I have seen with my own eyes the difference in the educational experience at top level academic schools (Tufts,Duke) vs. middle to lower level quality academic chools (OU) and it is mainly due to the other students you are surrounded by and not necessarily the level of instruction received.

Point is that it is a research school. It is definitely not known for churning out athletes. Maybe Allister will change that.

I get your point.

But Stanford is very competitive in some sports.
Football, Volleyball, Swim, Tennis, Womens Basketball, and Track come to mind.

I'm sure that factors,
but she is a Stanford alum.

hard to argue with that.

THIS.

Recruiting, I don't think will be an issue. Rachel and Dorian have done a fine job, especially with 2017's coming in (Pitching and Speed to start with). Jessica, as always, will be ahead of every coach in the game when it comes to measurable metrics and data.

Her parents are in Tahoe. Her parents have more information about the incoming talent in this country than most people combined. That is a great tool to have.

This is the #1 reason Duke is now near the top of DD's list of schools. If two people are equal in all aspects when it comes to being hired or advanced in their career the diploma with Duke will help.

Yes that and being surrounded by other highly motivated students will most often force a student to reach his/her potential. Unfortunately I see plenty of bright talented kids here at OU who just settle for mediocre because in general that is what everybody else is doing. It takes a special individual, which are certainly out there, to rise above the culture of a mediocre school and excel.

I know a local 2019 pitcher who verballed to Stanford last year. Will be interesting to see if the new coaching staff honors the verbal and/or if she maintains the grades for admission?
