So the last week or so, they've been struggling to get in games for DD's 3rd all-star tournament.
It started last week and was supposed to finish this past weekend. Due to having rain almost every day, they had to reschedule games into this week. With more rain coming, the director decided to just go ahead and cancel the rest.

Fine for some divisions - since they were able to get their championship game played. There were 4 divisions that still needed to finish. Two divisions already had all but 1 team with a loss so they just needed to play the loser's bracket game to see which team went to the championship. Two divisions still have undefeated teams.

Of course DD is in one with two undefeated teams as they only were able to play 2 games. They just needed to win one more to make it to the championship.

So tournament director said they would determine winner/runner-up by where you are currently. Easy enough probably for those where there's only one undefeated team.

How do they decide if two teams haven't lost yet?
The team we were supposed to play - we have a better RF/RA difference and in the last two tournaments, we've beat them 3 times. We were also seeded #1. But I am curious if they are just going to flip a coin. Granted I don't care about the trophy because TBH, it doesn't mean anything unless you actually get the win.

Honestly, it's such a let-down that the girls can't finish out this tournament. They already won their first two and wanted to go for the sweep - in our county we have 3 All-Star tournaments.
Luckily we're signed up to go to the State All-Star tourney (if it doesn't get rained out too!) so they aren't finished yet.

It always stinks this time of the year for the "all-star" districts... As to the how they will determine the "winner", it will depend on the organization that you are playing in... You should be able to call the district rep and find out the rules for such a determination...

They did end up giving the win to us - not that it matters much. The girls want to play.
Also just got word that the State Tournament happening this weekend got cancelled because of weather. Luckily I guess you only have to have been registered (not even win) to get a bid to the All-Star World Series. So they are still going to that - hoping the weather holds out for that!

The rules for USSSA are so different than our local rules that it would have been nice to play a tournament there before going to WS but oh well..Lots of practicing in the upcoming weeks instead..

They finally posted the results for the tournament and it looks like they used runs scored to determine winners.
Worked out fine for us since we were #1 seed and played the #8 and we had a ton of runs in that game and it was a full 1:30 game. Team that got runner-up to us played in two 1:00 games but defense was better for those games so they didn't score as many.

We did wonder if the time differences would factor in but I guess there's really no way to know.
Though using the runs scored kind of hurt some teams. Team had won 2 games and then lost the game to decide which team advanced to championship game so they had three games played. Another team who lost early on, played more games and so had more runs that counted and ended up getting runner-up.
Not sure if going by just runs scored is technically a good way to do it in cases like that :/
