Wow, I would imagine that coaches career is over...
No action was taken in the Mich St. case - McBride: Claims were to show 'mistreatment and abuse' in MSU softballI thought a college coach was charged a couple years ago for hitting a batter in practice or something like that. Do not recall the outcome.
Never ok to purposefully hit a batter with ill intent.
However, as a coach who throws front toss to batters, I always (softly) will hit the batter during every at bat.... with no other intention than to get them prepared to wear a pitch in a game.... it is always their intention to get on base. Hit, get hit, or walk....
Funny story last week when one of my travel players was at the plate against me during a Jr High game, representing her school. My pitcher lost control of a backdoor curve and it came straight towards the batters thigh...she stood there still as a statue and wore it like a boss! Then proceeded to smile at me as she took her base. It was a proud moment and a horrible moment for me at the same time?!?!?!?
