Wow, I would imagine that coaches career is over...

Unfortunately i doubt it. Have heard several coaches tell my DD to do that exact same thing an she is just 10. We talk about it after practice and I tell her under no circumstance should she do that. And if a coach were to yell at her about it i tell her to send them my way and we can discuss it.

I don't even know what would possess an adult to say it's OK to hit a 10 year old with a pitch on purpose. I seriously hope this person
never coaches another game assuming this is all true. He doesn't belong in youth sports.

Being hit by a pitch can, in many cases, result in injuries like broken bones. If this were to happen and you can make the case that the coach told the girl to do it, you would have a civil case and, maybe, a criminal case.

I thought a college coach was charged a couple years ago for hitting a batter in practice or something like that. Do not recall the outcome.

There's no excuse for adults coaching kids to hurt other kids on purpose. No way we'd stay on a team like that either. That's first year 12U! Middle school kids. Nope. Not ok.

Never ok to purposefully hit a batter with ill intent.
However, as a coach who throws front toss to batters, I always (softly) will hit the batter during every at bat.... with no other intention than to get them prepared to wear a pitch in a game.... it is always their intention to get on base. Hit, get hit, or walk....
Funny story last week when one of my travel players was at the plate against me during a Jr High game, representing her school. My pitcher lost control of a backdoor curve and it came straight towards the batters thigh...she stood there still as a statue and wore it like a boss! Then proceeded to smile at me as she took her base. It was a proud moment and a horrible moment for me at the same time?!?!?!?

Rainey Gaffin - a strong, athletic player - suffered a broken arm after wearing a pitch.
