anyone have any thoughts about the bunt, called fair, that ignited OK's 4 run inning last night?

I thought it was foul but the PU was right there. The bigger question I had was the kid ran inside the baseline all the way. Honestly not sure of the college rule so can't argue that one.

In watching the PU I thought he was so busy making the safe sign to alert everyone it was not a dead ball he forgot to see where the ball was when it was picked up. He did not have a good view of it from where he stepped out to anyways. The Duck catcher was between him and the ball. Maybe he should have talked to 1B blue after the play. I don't recall seeing him signal fair either.

This play had the ball, the batter, the catcher and the discarded bat in a very small area at the same time. I did see the signal to indicate that there was no interference, but no fair ball signal.

As a side note, U1 would have been moving into the infield to prepare for a potential play at first base and probably not able to offer any help on the fair/foul question.

To me it was clearly foul. It might not have been so obvious to the ump with everything happening so quickly in such a small space. I have only been watching college softball for a few years, but it seems like a lot of bad calls effect the outcome of games. I would like to see some type of review system for instances like this.

That being said, that play has to be made by Oregon.

It looked to be foul by several inches and really was the momentum that sparked the Oklahoma rally. Seems like we have seen some questionable calls so far (e.g. UCLA called for catcher obstruction on the winning run).

There's a screenshot from the RF foul pole area of this play. U1 was clearly in position to see it. I don't know how to move it here, but it's in the Mike White thread. Something needs to change. Getting the call right is the only thing that matters.
