I think many fail to understand that the case book is as much a part of the rules as the rule book itself. To fully understand the rules, you must also understand what is in the case book as it provides guidance and clarification of the rule(s) and places them in context. To the point by Comp there is simply nothing in any video that show any evidence that the runner was impeded, only speculation that they may have been. You have to look at the actions of the runner not how they may have felt. Just because you happen to identify as an impeded runner does not mean you are actually an impeded runner. :)

IMO it would make a difference if the runners stopped trying to get cute (and hurt) sliding headfirst with a hand tag into home. Straight in hard, feet first, through the catcher if she's there, with or without the ball. This would also force the catcher's to set up properly i.e. Left foot on/just inside the foul line.

Ya, Im with you there. Where are these head first slides coming from into home with a geared up catcher standing there waiting for them? Need to go in feet first.

Agree and would add that this is a rule that really needs to be tweaked making it an immediate dead ball.

If you make this violation an immediate dead ball, you are actually providing a benefit to the offense. If the ball is dead, the defense has no further opportunity to play on another runner and potentially get more outs. The defense didn't so anything wrong, don't take away the opportunity for further plays.

The defense usually does not have an opportunity to make further plays as they are chasing runners. Most often this behavior is to the detriment of the defense and benefits the offense.
