"We are currently looking to add several players before nationals in July so don't miss your chance. July 15th-22nd. Pitchers catchers infield and outfield."

Um, isn't that like a whole team? Do you have any players you like? I'm so confused.

This along with tryout posts already makes me realize softball is dying...

Quite the opposite! Have you turned on your TV in the past several years. There is so much college softball on TV. It was the 3rd most watched sport last year on ESPN. Our local league has grown from 310 players 8 years ago to well over 600 this year.

The biggest problem is that there are so many teams that they have become diluted. 8 years ago there were no 8U TB teams...which is crazy to even think about. IMO most players that are playing TB need to stay in Rec league longer. If more good players stayed in Rec league it would be more competitive. There are many kids that are going to get burned out a lot sooner playing year round and they would be better served playing all sports available. I was talking to a customer yesterday whose kid plays "dixie" league and he says that he is already emailing D1 college coaches to take a look at his kid. He couldn't even tell me what age division she plays in nor what team she plays on. Parents and kids are rabid about softball.

As long as the lure of the "full ride" is hung out there the more parents will chase the dream.

Golf is the sport that is dying!!! My closest course just sold and will be turned into a luxury housing development. arrrghh!!! Without Tiger, golf is dead.

The city we are in has put a cap on our league size since we are growing so fast and we are making several of the other sports very nervous.

We are in the process of looking to help fund lighting for some city fields that exist but do not have lighting to allow us to expand.
