Yep. one of my rec players was overheard telling a lady that she was drinking and is grounded.
The mom did come up to us after practice and said "To not give her any leeway." The girl does not focus. We say "Do not leave the dugout," and then, she is out wandering around. She plays first base and chats with the base coach.
The mom said that she is hanging out with the wrong people. (Do you think?)
If mom approaches us, again, I am going to inquire if the girl is medicated during the school day. She shows typical signs of ADHD and I am afraid that she is already self medicating, or close to it.

Between her and a domestic violence case, on the team, this week, I am about to start drinking, myself.

Oh wow. My oldest is about to be 13 and not remotely interested in drinking yet. I hope that holds off awhile. :( It seems so young. I hope she pulls it together.

^^^ That's why they need you! You're a positive force in their lives, even if only for a few hours a week. Hang in there!

Really hit the nail on the head 7sDAD! Not to put any pressure on you Amy, but you may the biggest influence in this young girl's life. Probably not what you asked for but the MAN upstairs may have sent this little one to you for a reason.....Will keep this one in my thoughts and wish you all the best along the road ahead.
