Not Allowed to Video my Team???

Not at all off topic. When it comes to video taping games where the participants happen to be minors there is no one size fits all answer. There are many variables and it could be a complex question.

I stumbled upon a game from last fall on YouTube a month or so ago. It was my DD2 first game with new 14U team and since she catches it was awesome. Org of team she was playing produces top D1 players so it doesn't surprise me that they do this - but it would have been nice to know. I guess PA allows this?

Unfortunately it is more complex that just state laws regarding photography/video. There is difference between being in public and being in a place that is open to the public. Your local ball park may be open to the public but may not be a "public place". If it is owned or leased by the league they may or may not have the ability to prohibit certain activities. It is common for an softball association to lease fields at a public park for a tournament. Part of that agreement even though it is a public park may allow them to charge admission, prohibit coolers, outside food, or even video taping. So again, it can be a complex question.

I think that is on topic.

I tape some players, video never hits the Internet. I can understand why some people would be uncomfortable with it, watching the news some of their concerns are very valid.

If I wanted to tape a specific player I would talk to coach. They can tape my player if they are concerned and provide me tape.

Couldn't answer that without seeing what forms the players parents are required to sign. It's a case by case, State by State analysis.

You never know circumstances. They are adoption situations, custody situations, etc. that may have parent seeking a low internet profile for their child. They could have offered more details but may have also wanted to protect the privacy of those involved.

We go-pro every single game and have not had anyone say anything to us about it. Our coaches use it for training so it's been really helpful. Now on the other hand, we did have a coach this weekend lose his mind over a call and he pitched the biggest toddler fit I have ever seen in A ball. He ended up getting thrown out when it looked like he was about to fight the ump so maybe some of these guys don't want stuff like this out there? When you are watching the game you miss things but when you can review that video over and over and also put it in slo-mo, you really catch some crazy stuff and video doesn't lie!
