We are also going to pigeon forge! I'm actually excited about this because we love the mountains. We did pcb 2 years ago and it was fun but was so hot and crowded.

Be careful what you wish for...we went from the beaches of PCB as a first year 14U to the cornfields of Normal, IL as a 2nd year 14U team. With USFA we played at least two games a day, while ASA played one game a day until Thur. In PCB when you are not playing, you and the family are at the beach, playing in the sand, eating seafood dinners. In Normal, IL you are sitting in the hotel room watching the corn grow outside your hotel window, and eating fast food. Our extended family came to PCB and turned it into a true vacation. How many of them do you think came to Normal, IL??? Zero, zip, nada...
We had cornfields 2 years in a row. The only things different about Moline was the MS river and bugs that ate people alive. Our team got scattered around different hotels around Moline/Davenport because the original place was so bad nobody checked in.

At Normal, we played 1 game/day Mon-Wed and had Thur off as they played the first round of the losers bracket - team went to Springfield to see Lincoln's home.

Won first place and spent a full week in Moline IL. Second pace was a full month. :)

What age group? I feel like I know this but I can't remember right now. I'm really excited about going north instead of south, even though I know it'll still be hot. We got a very cool, huge cabin we're sharing with a couple of other families. Unless something changes (please no) this will be our first world series trip with a happy team and no drama. But I do realize we still have several months and anything could happen. I'm hopeful though :D

We are 16u. It would be cool to run into some dfp'ers but with the different age groups probably won't happen.

We went to USFA nationals 4 years ago in PCB. We had a good time, and the beach is awesome. The only draw back was that the fields we played at were about a 45 minute drive from Frank Brown Park. We also played a couple games at Frank Brown. The facilities are great there, and an amazing amount of hotels and condos. In the day it was like 100 degrees and humid. Great for the beach, but girls had to tough it out. Girls were a little distracted from fun, they played alright. Really enjoyed the parade at Pier Park. My DD was 12 and the parade which involved pin trading was one of her fondest memories in travel softball career.

We went to PCB last week for spring break also. Not softball related. We had a very good time and we didn't have metal tools to make sand castles so we didn't break the law. But there was a police presence on the beach, but they were much more concerned about alcohol on the beach during spring break. I thought interesting and it was very well marked that no alcohol on the sandy beach was allowed from Feb 1 to March 31. I think PCB has wanted to stop its reputation as the college spring break party town that it used to be.

I forgot about the distance factor. In 8U we only played in one park. Last year we were at 3 different parks and they were all 45 minutes from each other and mostly that far from our condo. Of course, I'm used to having to drive for softball. Still, this year we'll be staying right next to the one park where we'll play. That'll be nice.

I live about 45 mins from pigeon forge. Just a reminder to everyone. Between game breaks be wary of going to eat. 2 hour break can leave very little time to eat on sat afternoon. Traffic can be slow at best. If you leave the fields planning on eating at x and reach the parkway and it's bumper to bumper may want to change to plan y. If it ain't crowded then it's really nice with food and shopping avaiable.
