I am sorry for the rookie questions but is there a difference between softball and baseball catchers gear?

The short answer is yes. That being said, my catcher uses baseball gear. The rawlings 950 is one of the most solid, but flexible chesties on the market. 2 of my kids (both, my baseball and and softball players) grew up with it and grew to trust it. We have been through all 3 sizes with each kid. The shins are not my favorite. They fit well and offer great protection. But the metatarsals tear off.
