^^ all of that. Except the father figure part, coaches need to coach not be daddies(especially if they have a DD on the team.

I'm sure that everyone knows the history with this coach and her family. If not, look into it.

IMO, Walton knew exactly what he was doing and should receive some significant unpaid vacation. He may be able to bully umpires without repercussions but this can't be let slide. IMO, a player's decision, right or wrong, to not high 5 someone is an issue for their own coach, not the opposing team's coach to address.

On a subject somewhat related to a player choosing not to hi 5 someone, anyone have thoughts on future college championship teams accepting/turning down a visit to the current White House? Make any difference if it were a women's team? Or your own DD's team?

If people feel that the Auburn player initiated this by failing to extend a "hi 5", so be it but I have no problem with her refusing to acknowledge an individual she feels has "wronged" her family.

When I see the video, I see a guy going beyond the typical motion of a "hi 5" and reaching out way too far to push her shoulder in a none too subtle manner. Just a punk move and I'd like to think Myers did not see it occur or he would have reacted a little more quickly. Of course, he was still walking the line acting like a normal human being, something that Walton seems to have difficulty grasping.

"Shove"? When you start to get old, your eyes begin to go, and you space out more often, especially when you're tired. He expected the hand to be there, he predicted where it would be, and then when he didn't feel a touch, in a split second, he went in search of something to tap.

Meh, it happens.

I was watching it live and thought it was very unfortunate but didn't imagine it would get much media attention. It's all over the place - ESPN, USA Today, NY Daily News. I knew there was a bit of history between the Fagan family and Walton. I wonder if she had refused to shake his hand the previous two games. Anybody know?

A male coach (and yes it does make a difference whether it should or not) absolutely CANNOT touch a female athlete in that manner. To me, he was miffed about the loss and then further miffed that she refused to shake hands and he was trying to make a point. That is a HUGE mistake. I guess I really don't have a problem with her refusing to shake his hand. A handshake is a sign of respect and she obviously has no respect for Walton and therefore refused to shake his hand. Maybe not the winner of the sportsmanship award but I have no problem with it. If she had refused the handshake the previous two games, then Walton knew this was coming and it makes the whole situation much more serious. If not, then it's entirely possible than Momo'sDad is right and it was just a product of bad vision and tiredness.

Given the level of media attention, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I 'm sorry, I don't think what TW did was a big deal and I think her behavior was reprehensible. What I saw:she held back from the high 5 so his hand was up and he patted her on the Trapezius with the heel of his hand. she turned and definitely shoved him. if she was being scouted, I think this would've sent the scouts packing. Just MHO.

to those of you who are up in arms that Tim "touched" a player- are you equally offended that he touched the next player in line with his other hand while high fiving her?

I can't tell if you really believe he did something wrong or if you just hate Tim.

TW definitely saw her not high five the other coach and gave her a little bump. He also spun very quickly knowing it was her pushing him and not someone inadvertently bumping into him. He was ready for the confrontation and knew it was coming.

Then his years of experience took over and he remained cool while she looked like an idiot losing her temper. He's so far inside her head at this point, the next meeting will be interesting to see how she performs.

Genuinely curious about what you find reprehensible about her behavior. Should we force kids to make physical contact with someone who they don't respect and who they believe wronged their family? I say good for her for standing up for what she thinks is right and her family. She wasn't inappropriate about it. She just put her hand down when she came to that point in the line.

Once Walton made contact with her, I have no issue at all with her shoving back. If a man makes unwanted physical contact with my daughter, I hope she will fight back as well.
