I'm right here.
I was reading an article on the internet yesterday regarding professional athlete career ending injuries. If I read the article correctly, there were at least two MLB athletes that ended their professional careers due to pitched baseballs striking them in the unprotected face. Kirby Puckett was one of the athletes that I read about and there was another player, which I hadn't heard about, named Tony Conigliaro. Both players left MLB because they couldn't see well enough to bat after the injuries to the face by a pitched baseball.

Then you need to pay attention to how many batters wear or don't wear them on any college team that is being considered. Its not just coincidence that some entire teams go without.

I have always been a fan of "control what you can control"...and until my DD gets a job and starts making her own money, the DW and I have a say in the decisions she makes.

Sorry, I thought the OP was a "welcoming" to the word of fastpitch softball to new parents, not another facemask discussion, lol.

If not, I want to make it a discussion about "knee savers"... I hate those things. All they promote is lazy catchers.

We have some players that slide like that. :)

Unfortunately this looks like how my dd slides. I have paid virtually hundreds of dollars in speed and agility classes that teach good running technique/form. She knows how to run but when she gets on the base path she runs all forward and SLOW so when it is time to slide she can't get her legs forward to get down. She literally looks just like this girl - minus the glove in the face thank goodness. DD is 150 lbs of muscle and she just can't seem to master the slide. We have used slip n slides, sleeping bags, cardboard, a pole held between 2 people, etc. She knows the mechanics and concept - and reiterate - she knows how to run....... ARGH!!
