what to do with a weekend off when you're on a new team?

DD has started playing with a new team- first tournament is mid-June and then nothing scheduled (yet) for the following weekend. The new program has 3 or more teams at U18 so I was thinking of asking the coach if we don't schedule anything for that weekend, could DD offer to play as a guest on another team in the same program rather than taking the weekend off?

Is that a reasonable request or is that kind of insulting to the team?

The important thing is asking the coach, finding out what the coach's expectations are.

Any reasonable coach will give you a reasonable answer.

If the coach acts like a complete psycho upon asking the question, then your DD is on the wrong team. And it is better to find out now than later..

Is the issue because of the level/age? My 10U kiddo guest plays a lot. We always let the coaches know in advance so they don't think we're cheating on them. The coaches have never minded but I have seen them get upset when one of their players picks up without letting them know they were doing it.

Which weekend are you off? The 16th or the 23rd? We're playing both weekends (providing HS season doesn't end up delayed because of this stupid blizzard) so there are some big local tournaments/showcases those weekends.
How does she like the new team so far?

If your DD is guest playing on another team within the same organization I don't think anyone would have an issue with it. This past weekend I used two players from other teams within our organization to fill in for missing and injured players. Just make sure the coaches know about it.

Thanks - I thought it would be ok. I didn't want to assume.
Murphdog- we are playing in West Greenwich RI on 6/16. We are not yet scheduled for anything on 6/23.
I know there are plenty of tournaments going on so I hope we get one scheduled but if not I'm hoping she can get a guest spot with another team in the program.
She loves the new team! Really looks forward to practice and seeing everyone. I have observed the interpersonal interactions between the players and DD not only fits in but the team really has good chemistry!
