So Cal
I'm curious about the netting supplier also. I plan on setting up a little hitting station in the unfinished part of my basement next year. I was thinking 3/4" metal conduit to hang the netting.

Make sure and post some more pics when you get it all done.

I got my net through an Amazon vendor. My cage (30x10x10) is made from fencing top rail tubing (1-3/8") with fittings from these guys...Batting Cage N More - Batting cage frame jr. kit 1 3/8 Frame Kits

IMO, 3/4" EMT is not durable enough.

EDIT: If you have a free-standing cage (not cable-hung inside an existing building), put some thought into how you will anchor the posts. This is an important consideration.

I looked at the option of getting fittings through these guys, then buying metal tubing; but it was getting expensive. Ideally I wanted to hang it from the ceiling with pulleys, but I don't own the building and I'm not sure how the landlord would feel about that. I have a connection with a pipe supplier so I thought it was best to start there. Eh...the whole thing may crumble and crash, we'll see how it goes.

I understand. My small cage ended up being right around $1000 all-in, with the biggest part being the netting.

If you use schedule 40 PVC plus wrap the insulation around it, it should hold up as long as it doesn't get really cold. This will be interesting!

We have 3 cages.
(1) 55'x14'x12' out in the yard. It has a tubular frame. Had a big wind storm come through last fall and rolled it...The tubular corner post fittings on the one side are all trashed.
(1) 24'x10'x10' in the garage. It's a Networld brand net. It works great for us in the winter in the heated garage. It is on cables. Move the pick-up out, slide the net out, secure, start slow tossing...about 5 minute set-up, including backing the truck out.
(1) 9'H x10'x10' open ended cage in the basement. It's a Networld brand net. My 3 DDs hit off of tees when it's colder than heck out, and the garage isn't feasible. It's on cables, it literally takes 2 minutes to set up.
If I had a large, heated shop, I'd get rid of the tubular frame for the 55' cage, and hang it off of cables. Similar to what you see in a sports dome in the upper midwest.
my 2 cents...

You might want to do some searching of fishing net companies. Its been so long ago I dont remember the name of the company I got my batting cage net from, but it was a fishing net supplier. The net was outdoors in the AZ sun for 5 years while I owned it before donating it to my daughters high school when we moved. It has now been in the sun for 15 years and they still use it.
