I went on to our local forum to post about our tournament and figured I would peek and see what teams in the area were looking for players. I had to laugh at some of the postings I saw, I think I'll go on and look now whenever I need a laugh)

-12u Team looking for P, C, OF, MI and Utility (so pretty much your looking to start a team)
-18u Gold Team looking for D1 quality pitchers (notes said looking for 2 D1 quality pitchers .. Maybe its me but how are you a gold team if you don't have pitching)
-10u Elite team looking for stud SS (is there really such an elite 10u)
- Strong 14 u team looking for 2 pitchers pitch lots of innings and join our already strong pitching staff (if your pitching staff was that strong why would you have to add 2 pitchers to it?)

What are some of your favorites.

They are fun to read. It's especially fun when you're familiar with the teams and know they're a hot mess and that's why they can't keep any players.

I did a little bit of research on the organizations with in 1 hour of my home. The average for 14U teams per organization is 2.78 teams per. I had 20 teams that i found the info for. Is it any wonder the adds are looking like, I have my daughter and need to build a team around her. Gone are the days of each organization having a competitive A team and maybe another B team if they had quality players to fill it.

The new "buzz phrase" on Tennessee page is, "Due to unforeseen circumstances".... Yep, not one coach knew four girls were leaving after the fall. Just tell people what your looking for!

BTW, DD's team is looking for an 01 SS. One of ours is aging up in the fall. True story. :)

Doublesteal - what is the local forum you are referring to? I love DFP but don't know of others and would love to take a look! I'm in MD so not far from you.

Seems to me, if a team isn't looking for a better player at every position they aren't truely a competitive team.

I don't mind daddy ball teams that have positions set before tryouts but I'd rather have DD earn her spot than have it granted through favortism.

Oooh, I wanna try!

Up-and-coming high school program ready to make a splash looking for P, C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, team manager, scorekeeper, and assistant coach because my wife sometimes, y'know. Could also use a bench. And an actual bench because our facilities ain't much to speak of.

Now that I think about it, this team could probably use a head coach, too, because I'm not sure I want to deal with all this anymore. :)

In my experience the best coaches, players, and orgs grow their own. Teams 'looking for a better player at every position'... aren't developing players and aren't a team.
