If you go to the website and look up Past tryouts they will Tryout Results and ODM results. It will list the name of the kids that get invites to the Jamborees as well.

"All players who participate in an OnDeck Tryout will receive consideration for an OnDeck Softball Jamboree and/or Elite Camp, ODM Level II Testing and a Tryout Evaluation.

Players selected will be invited to a Jamboree or Elite Camp in the calendar year following the Tryout. Selections will be made based on a combination of the player's potential, softball skill level, and ODM Numbers."

Interesting thanks. So it isn't all about the numbers and the girls also have to pass what I like to call the eyeball test.

Yes...evaluation. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, my kid is not a speed demon by any means. She ranks high on throwing velocity and that's the only measurable that stands out.

Little late to the conversation- OnDeck Softball is a great way to see how your DD measures up against her peers, at least for running, throwing and quickness. I do not put as much stock in the bat speed and exit speed numbers- they vary more than the other measurements listed above. If the player is a good athlete, they will certainly standout by posting a high athletic index and will draw interest based on that score (not just colleges- from other travel teams as well). My daughter started by going to a tryout and posted decent numbers. Grew a couple of more inches and was invited to another event and posted some terrific numbers that really got noticed- especially by upper level travel teams. However, it is just a piece of the puzzle- still need to be able to play the game, especially hit! Arm speed is also very important.

Have seen the Zepp used at winter camps. I thought about getting one but not sure if I'd use it much.
I don't like ours at all. It's very flimsy, loses the Bluetooth connection a lot, and doesn't sync very well. It's a pain to get off and on. It wasn't one of our better purchases in the name of softball. :)

My daughter is 12U and we are interested in seeing where she stacks up against others in her age group - OnDeck is coming to our area and so are the USSSA Elite Tryouts. I have read both threads and now I am not sure which event would be more beneficial for dd to attend. I certainly don't want to do both just from a money standpoint - we want to go to the one that will give us the best data points that she can build on. My dd is NOT fast - she is a power hitter. She is not a pitcher - she plays first and outfield. Which would be the best option for her to attend? Thanks in advance.

MY DD is 12u eligible as well. We did both OnDeck last year and made the USSSA Elite Selects as a direct select. She is a P/C/Corner. We will never do the USSSA selects again. Just not a great experience for the cost. Personally, as long as you have means to correctly and accurately do testing, you can do the testing on your own. Measure improvement. I've seen plenty of kids whose numbers are off the charts that struggle to play the game.

Just my two cents.

Following up: it was a good experience for daughter, first camp. Her numbers stood out I thought. In 7 of 11 categories she was top 12, and in sprints and quickness at or near top. About 100 kids.

In high school she is top 5 in all offensive categories as a freshmen except RBI as a leadoff hitter, including leading league in HRs.

So all that said, 36 invites came out of this camp! But didn't get one. A little disappointed because didn't expect invite at all coming in but given the number of invites I am not sure there were 36 better players but oh well. Will wait for evals to come out in a couple weeks to learn where to improve.

Some lessons here: as mentioned you need to show well on the field. She knew she didn't do her best on the grounders. She hit some hard shots off the pitcher, who was very hard to hit, but I guess didn't stand out enough. I am thinking there may be something to learn about impressing and standing out with just hustle, verbally, presence, etc... not sure but maybe...

Some on this thread mentioned allister index but we did not get our index score to the best of my knowledge.

I believe they stopped giving Allister numbers for their tryouts...... you will only receive one if you do level 1 testing which the tryout is a level 2 testing..... appears that they want more money from you to get the Allister Index Number. Not totally sure but you may have to go to a "certified" ODM training center to get the level 1 testing.

My DD just recently attended the Dallas tryout which I do not think she did very well. It will be interesting to see how it plays out..... she is powerful and has the build of what some would call desirable.

Thanks for your update.
