DD has attended two tryouts. Unfortunately, because of weather conditions she was not able to get a full ODM index number since they were not able to do the shuttle at the first one and the 60 yard dash on the other. They will post the numbers with your kid's number at some point after the event. Don't forget the number!!!! It took 2-3 months to post last year(wasn't too happy about that). DD was invited to 3 of the Jamborees which is the real goal of these events. Just another tool to use in the recruiting process. They take notes on all the players and email the results to the college coaches in their data base. My DD's numbers were not that impressive, but she makes up for it in the way she carries herself and the way she plays. So they don't just look at the numbers.
What grad year is your DD?

The results from the Ondeck tryout that my DD did was that they invited several 16u, and the only 14u were big sluggers or Pitchers.

That seemed like it made sense. DD wants to try again this year as 16u.

It is very difficult for a player to really stand out in ODM measurements unless she runs a 2.7 or faster home to first or throws 65+ MPH...

She's a 2019. Would have been 14U age category when she hit the tryouts.

My daughter is 12U and we are interested in seeing where she stacks up against others in her age group - OnDeck is coming to our area and so are the USSSA Elite Tryouts. I have read both threads and now I am not sure which event would be more beneficial for dd to attend. I certainly don't want to do both just from a money standpoint - we want to go to the one that will give us the best data points that she can build on. My dd is NOT fast - she is a power hitter. She is not a pitcher - she plays first and outfield. Which would be the best option for her to attend? Thanks in advance.

OnDeck has a much longer record of doing this and are generally highly organized. They also are very consistent across events which means you can generally trust data across events. Many colleges like the data and the events beyond 'tryouts' are well attended for the most part.

USA Elite is not as established and I am not sure I would be able to compare data across events which all seems to be somewhat different. Yet. They will get better - but if I was only going to do one this year, I would probably do OnDeck

One last thing. I wouldn't bother doing this in 12U.

We've attended both and IMO OnDeck is better, but it depends on what you are looking to do. Are you looking to make the trip for an experience? Or just looking for some data feedback? If it is the 2nd I'd select OnDeck.

From what I have seen with the ODM measurements speed is a key factor, in calculating there index.

From word of mouth a lot of colleges use OnDeck, and attend Jamborees, and the Allister's are very respected in the college softball community.

We would just use it for measurements to see where she stacks up honestly - we do not plan on making a trip. We can't afford another trip - neither in time due to their schedule or money, lol.

Speed is the big thing she does not have. She relies on her bat and she can clear the bases on a hit but only get a double out of the deal...... this is in spite of the fact that I have sent this child to speed and agility religiously for the last 2 years.

Do they take any other type of measurements on the participants as for as height, weight/BMI, build etc?

If you go to the website and look up Past tryouts they will Tryout Results and ODM results. It will list the name of the kids that get invites to the Jamborees as well.

"All players who participate in an OnDeck Tryout will receive consideration for an OnDeck Softball Jamboree and/or Elite Camp, ODM Level II Testing and a Tryout Evaluation.

Players selected will be invited to a Jamboree or Elite Camp in the calendar year following the Tryout. Selections will be made based on a combination of the player's potential, softball skill level, and ODM Numbers."
