No I don't think it is ok to ditch a in sport practice. I haven't told them that. Actually I told her today she said attend the whole practice. I just don't have a environment where it's ok to call out another player. I'm afraid this will create tension on our team. Was just wondering if/anything anyone has experienced or dealt with.

why can't a player call out another player? That's the problem these days, don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Tuff crap, the one girl shouldn't of tried to skip out early on practice for another that just happens not to be in season. The player that called the other out should be praised for it.

Some would call that leadership. My dd played half of last year as a guest player in her old team. 18u team my dd just finished up her first year at college. They had some injuries and other issues with pitchers and they needed help. Half the team knew her and the other half didn't. I asked her how she liked the girls she didn't know and she laughed and said "they're immature but I don't mind them, not sure how much they like me though" why my perfect angel of a dd would anyone not like you I asked to my perfect in every way child. "I got tired of them bitching about the coaches, one of them came back and complained because Matt got mad because she watches too many third strikes, so I told her if she would swing the damn bat he wouldn't have anything to say. And then I went to the other end of the dugout". Leadership or attitude?

I call that the truth. To me that makes her a leader. Qualities missing in some youth now a days, but not in you're dd. You did a good job raising her to be a leader.

DD's catcher in college was not afraid to say anything. DD's freshman year during a conference tournament they were facing a good hitting team. DD was handling them pretty well. DD's team was up by 4 runs. Other team had runners on 2nd & 3rd with two outs late in the game. Batter hits a sharp ball right at the senior left fielder. All she had to do was move two steps to her left and catch the ball to end the inning. She dropped the routine ball. It was her 10th dropped ball of the season. Both runners scored. DD struck out the next batter.

After the inning DD was giving the "Death Glare" to the senior in the dugout. The senior tells the catcher "She needed to get her pitcher under control." The catcher immediately replied "You need to catch a Eff'n routine fly ball." The senior spent the rest of the inning in tears and the rest of the game in the corner of the dugout after the coach pulled her.

Sometimes being a leader requires someone hearing the truth.

This is happening on another sports team with another coach. I make sure everyone that plays for me knows what is acceptable for my team. That should be something that you do regardless of any given situation. You don't control the actions of anyone on that other team. Set the standard your first practice for what you will accept.

I'd call it developing leadership. Good that she's not going to bash her coaches with her teammates, and that she's willing to call them on it. The snide comment then going to sit far away feels a little like attitude to me. She's just gotta channel it a little better.
