Op defined heights really well I thought. Put some work into it.

Looked more to me like good average general player height info without specific reference to pitchers to me?
The OP had no info on TamiAz's or GunnerShotgun's idea of short pitchers. We took the thread on a tangent and morphed from height of players to height of pitchers.

I think I know what u are trying to say.

Do you really think there are statistics on pitchers height in SB?

We fall back to baseball.

Pedro was great, small guy.

Sierra Romera is listed at 5'5". In guessing that's in cleats on a hard surface and on her toes. Anyone want to argue that her height held her back any? Part of the problem is the preconceived notion that tall equals athlete. Tall kids are encouraged by society into sports. Short kids are encouraged to do other things. I am certain that there are a ton of great girl athletes who are dancing and flipping right now. Who were pushed into those activities because they are petite, but they might have been outstanding ball players. But we will never know because they were "too tiny" to play.

Don't know how baseball and softball would correlate. Also don't know if there are stats on pitcher size in softball. I only know what our experiences in recruiting and talking with others revealed over the past few years. I would be willing to bet that Rachel was probably the shortest top 25 D1 regular pitcher on record. I know Georgia has a pitcher that is shorter, but she sees little circle time.

Don't get me wrong, DD does well in the circle (most of the time :) ). She performs at a level that would land her in a mid D1 setting, but will likely never see it because of her height. She has D1 and top D2 schools interested and once they realize she is done growing they disappear one by one.

The bigger "problem" is DD wants to stick with pitching so her window to be picked up as a '19 utility has all but passed. She has been told by many coaches she would be a stud outfielder and offensive weapon at the top D1 level if she gave up pitching. She gave up pitching for 2 days and couldn't handle it this past August. So here we are.

I'm not saying all this to be negative Nelly. At one time, I too believed that the athlete would be judged based on their performance alone. I'm saying this so the parents of 14U and below pitchers hear this and know what they are up against. Proceed any way your DD wants, but also know the reality of the situation too as you move forward.

I've seen a small but sharp & athletic girl passed over for an uncoordinated very tall girl with almost no mental game (in 10U). All I could figure was height bias, even at this age.

I told DD to give up pitching both for ability and political reasons, and yet she is still a pitcher.

Told story before, tiny DD team equipment does not fit her. She has to buy her own pants to match team's.

Me: daugher is #1 pitch for x Team
Them: I did not know you were Jane's father
Me: I am not

In 10U rec, I saw quite a few small, athletic, game-smart girls. The ones that made their way to my teams usually ended up playing 2B.
