DD is a Junior, has her emails ready to send out to (5) schools she is genuinely interested in, but has no skills video yet. I have emailed a few coaches with generic questions and in their responses typically say to include a video link with the initial e-mail.
So we are indoors trying to put together 3-5 minutes of skills clips but all I can think of doing in a cage is hitting and pitching.
does it make any sense to include some tee work? I have seen others do it and we have time to "fill" because we cant include OF or IF work.

we shot some video (iPhone) yesterday and it was a lot more difficult than I expected (and I had my older DD the "Film Major" and Catcher helping out). In the video we shot I saw that DD#1 is way out of practice catching and my front toss pitching sucks and somehow we didn't get any curveball footage (which is often her best pitch and it was really bending yesterday)

so My 2 questions:
for hitting - is it ok to include Tee work? I have no problem making the video shorter.
For Pitching- will a catcher looking awkward make the pitcher look bad?

I'm at work now and don't have any clips I can show you.
We will be doing a "real" video in May when the weather is good enough to go outside.

we may have to do this again....

Since the colleges you're DD is writing to know your in Boston, why not tell them a skills video is forthcoming once the weather is better? Since first impressions are everything, for now you might be better off sending no video rather than a poor video which may leave them unimpressed?

Then make sure you get a catcher who's still in the game and who can frame your DD's pitches and make her look good, not someone who's struggling behind the plate.

If you really need to do it now, find a turf field where you can work in all aspects of the game. Good luck!

Don't overcomplicate it. Show her hitting tee, side toss and front-toss at whatever angles you can best film. Film pitching from side and behind to show spins. Do infield and throw/catch in a gym, I'm sure her high school would let her in if they knew way. If not, I'd still film her playing catch in the cage, and maybe taking grounders or doing glove work. Coaches want to see how your DD "moves" -- her athletic ability. They realize that skills videos don't 100% translate to on-the-field performance but it gives a first look at whether or not she's a player. Good luck.

Ok something is better then nothing. Get a tripod and mount that Iphone to it. Remember light is your friend. In cages the lighting usually sucks. Bring additional lights if you can. Try to borrow a GoPro if you can too.

Also when editing keep the video at or around 130-2 mins. Otherwise it gets boring. Ditch the tee. Softtoss, machine, and live pitching if it can be done.
