They are doing this in February locally and was curious if it is a waste of time and $. They charge $150 for this which I think is a little steep and am wondering if it's worth it. Thoughts?

My daughter did USAES last year and for the tryout it is a good place to have your daughter's stats officially evaluated if you haven't already. It also is an opportunity to see how she stacks up against competition in her age group outside of showcase camps. My daughter ended up on the Elite Select team and had a wonderful time in Florida.

I thought it was worth it to get a real evaluation of DD's skills. The numbers you get are some true measurables. I liked being there to watch the other girls, taking what I thought were good players and see how DD stacks up. We had a pretty local tryout so there were quite a few girls that DD plays against there as well.

DD was a Direct Select and we made the trip to FL. I'll said that it is something we won't do again & wish we hadn't this time. It ended up not being what we thought it was.

I do echo that it was a one and done experience for us in Florida as well, but she really made lifelong softball friends- the team continues to have a group chat and communicate daily.

We went last year. I loved all the numbers and seeing how she compared. She did very well for being first year 10U but didn't get chosen for the team. It was worth doing, just for the fact that she got to meet Lauren Chamberlain. She is very cool. For the cost, though, I think it'll be a one time thing for us. We talked about doing it this year to see how the #s compared from one year to the next but decided that wasn't worth $150 in the end, since even if she was chosen we would probably not go.

I posted this last year after we got back if you want a more in depth review. Funny that I mentioned how good her hitting was - she was one of the highest scoring 10U players there for hitting. Also interesting that the lean during pitching was such an issue not even a year ago. We have mostly fixed that now. And I said her change up was her strongest pitch which is no longer true. How things change!

It is great as long as they do not lose the binder containing all of the info from your DD's field. Actually this happened at the Elite Select All American camp. The only reason we went was to get the numbers. They lost the binder for our field so none of the girls that were on it received anything. No refunds or credit for future tryouts. So personally I feel like it is a money grab as much as anything. You pay for something and you do not get it so can it be called anything else?

Yikes. They should definitely have to refund at least a portion for that. The numbers are the main benefit IMO.

We live in Orlando and aren't doing it again. Was disappointed in the experience. Poor coaching and not truest playing to win. Also, a majority of the teams are made up of dl girls that didn't make the original cut because they can't get enough to travel to Orlando. You'll also be disappointed in the talent level. Not what you would expect for AA games.

You have one, one hour practice where they don't really practice before competition starts.

I won't even get into Disney ticket prices. Think many out of Townes were shocked at paying $15 a day per person. Especially if your kid is only playing one game that day.

We asked our daughter if she wanted to do it again and she said no.

Spend your money on a college camp instead.
