That was our group as well. Making the team or not was not the primary reason we even went. We were trying to get good baseline numbers in different areas so she would have something to measure her improvements as she kept working.

Same here. Coming out of it with nothing compare was the worst. Drove 9hrs each way, 2 nights hotel, $250 fee, for nada.lesson learned though

I am sure this type of thing is a great experience for the girls but just seems like a HUGE money grab especially if you dd is under 14 or so. It is blowing my mind seeing all the colleges getting verbal commitments from12 and 13 year old girls but so many girls either have plateaued or get sick of playing.

DD was 9 when we went, and I thought it was worth the experience. Of course, it was only an hour from home for us. We wouldn't have traveled for it. And the numbers were probably at least half of the appeal so if the binder of her info had gotten lost I'd have been extremely upset about it. But we all got to meet Lauren Chamberlain which was very cool and DD had a great time. We never really planned on her making the team, or going to the tournament if she did, though. I thought even at the time it seemed like a money grab, but fun so let's give it a try.

we did it a few weeks ago in Fl. I wanted to see how she stacked up on the numbers with her peers. 200 girls, 55 in her age bracket (11u), and it lasted 6hrs in 50 degree weather, which is cold in Florida. We were one of the 1st ones to get there to sign in and my DD was the last one in her age bracket to step off the field for evaluation. Forget autographs, we had to drive home 3hrs away. All of us took the next day off as we were exhausted. Evaluations need to get smoother. Felt bad for the volunteer coaches doing the hitting stations, I believe their arms are still in a sling, but major props for those coaches for volunteering. My DD did great on her evaluations and got selected. We plan on doing the AA games and be one and done with it. Mark it off on the bucket list so to speak, then spend the money on future camps. As direct select, dd will go to the Select 30 Camp and check it out.

Does anybody know how they do team selections after direct selects?

For the 10u age, the Great Lakes region only has 8 total players being evaluated. That isn't enough for 1 team, let alone 2.

6 states and 4 tryous for Great Lakes region. Shouldn't be a problem finding enough girls.
I'm predicting that if a region doesn't have enoughselects they go contact and select kids above a certain performance threshold from different regions.

I know several girls that made it last Summer from the Mid Atlantic area. Once they got to FL they were put on the Great Lakes teams however, apparently they shuffle girls around to fill vacant spots.

They'll fill spots with girls from Florida. Fl girls playing with girls from California, etc.

Last year at the beginning there was a Mid Atlantic region. There wasn't one in 2015. When they went to print uniforms, they changed a couple regions back to 2015 names because it was cheaper that way. Mid Atlantic became Great Lakes because of this.
