Do coaches let you know they're coming to watch you at a showcase

In your experience - when your daughter has emailed college coaches to give them her schedule at upcoming showcases, did the coaches respond to say they'd be there, or did they just show up?

I'm just trying to figure out if she'd be likely to hear back from them first or not. She has some communication ongoing with a couple of coaches, but there are numerous schools she's recently made first contact with - an email with the basic info and video etc. and then also with tournament schedules. Trying to figure out if no reply means they probably won't come to see her or if they might typically show up to watch and then contact her later if they like her.

It is easy to hustle, give 110%, and be a good teammate when you know you are being watched...but how does a player act when she thinks no one is watching? THAT is why a lot of coaches do not let players know when they are coming.

How old is your DD? They can't reply or respond if she's not a Junior.

Edit: Just stalked you a little, read that your DD is a Junior. My DD is a Sophomore, for reference.

Oh and thanks for the cool recruitment story thread. Don't know how I missed it, but fantastic information! Highly recommend anyone that didn't get to read it - go check it out! Stalk learning to find it, I have trouble with links from my phone.

Our club signed us up for softballrecruits.com, and we can see when coaches (more likely AC's) are viewing DD profile. It has done wonders for DD motivation to send those updates and emails - because they *do* look! They are watching her video, and returning to her profile. Thanks to this, she's narrowing down her schools based on who is showing interest in her. She chose D1, D2, and D3. And we signed her up for camps for the top 5 - or we're headed to Showcase events where we know they'll be. We were skeptical about the recruiting sites, but this has turned out to be legit because our recruiting coordinator has let us know that coaches have contacted him and shown interest in her. It's been exciting and motivating for her!

Not always.

DD had a school let her know they were going to come to a game and watch her last month and they did.
However, I looked up in the stands yesterday and there they were at DD's game. DD hadn't even sent them an email to let them know game times and location because they weren't listed as attending this showcase.

So no, they don't always let you know.

I've known some mid-major coaches who have shown up in street clothes with no logo/team wear to observe as they want to see how kids play if don't know they are being watched.

As a follow-up - there were definitely schools that she had emailed there and I know at least a couple watched for at least a little. There were a few fields and I think they walked around watching more than one game. She hasn't heard anything from anyone so far and will be sending her thank you emails this evening. She played well and had a decent amount of action so fingers crossed someone was looking at her and they liked what they saw!

This is huge! When a coach has a high amount of interest, they will watch from the outfield, and adjacent field etc.
Coach wants to see a pitchers reaction after giving up a big hit, a hitter's reaction when popping up, striking out etc.
Coach wants to see how girls at in the dugout and towards team mates. They like to watch body language everywhere.
Including breaks between games. Coach wants to be sure she will be a good fit with the 12-15 players already on the roster.

I know one coach personally who watches from a chair beyond centerfield once she has honed in on a recruit
