The email campaign for all these showcases has begun at our house also....and of course they almost all sound very tempting. Would it be helpful to have a running list of these showcase/exposure camps with feedback from those who are in the know or have attended as a separate thread here on DFP?

I would really love that! Reviews from folks who have done it, as well as reviews on different recruiting sites. Those would make great stickies!

I don't know about the rest of the country but in the midwest area Game Day has a very, very poor reputation with the travel programs. They tried to partner with the local ASA in Illinois and that fell apart after one season. With their tournament format they attract mostly rec all-star level teams. If this event even remotely resembles anything Game Day does around here I would stay far, far away from them.

Looking at the Gameday site a player needs to be nominated by one of their "scouts" or a coach. Following the nomination link you'll find that anyone can nominate anyone else. it's simply a money grab.

For legit services I'd start with OnDeck. Nobody better at what they do and the costs are dirt cheap.

As MNDad said above, OnDeck is top notch and well worth it. If you get the invite to a Jamboree, the number of coaches is amazing. My DD was offered at an ODM Jamboree. It worked out very well.

Just looked at the Game Day web page. Try getting a reasonable flight and hotel room around the Thanksgiving travel weekend.

DD has been invited to several Jamborees(Tulsa, RM, and Atlanta Legacy). Unfortunately, we went to the Ronald McDonald one last year and the tourney got rain cancelled, but the Jamboree continued...with 8 college coaches. Pretty disappointing, but out of their control.

Both of the Jamborees we attended were in Illinois. One indoor at Banditfest, the other during the DeMarini, and tons of coaches at each. I'm sure the weather didn't help one bit.

The "search" function is so great!

I just got an email from these folks. They don't even have a Midwest camp anymore. Only one in AZ and two in Florida. Cost is $450, plus stay-to-play hotels, plus transportation costs for the kid and an adult. Quite a bit of $$$$$$ unless this was something truly fantastic.

I don't think I will even show the email to my DD 3. A new bat would be cheaper, and probably more valuable to her.
