just because of the "compact cameras" that shoot video. The eu tax cameras and camcorders differently. If they call it a "camera" (and paid the appropriate taxes for a "camera") it will usually have a limitation of 29 minutes of video recording time. If it is a camcorder, this is generally not the case.

Not much to add that hasn't been said above. The link Eric posted explains why we recommend the Silver. The link below, whether you use our bracket or someone else's, lists the standard accessories we recommend:
Standard GoPro Setup

First, Merry Christmas to you all!

I stumbled on this thread and I'm hoping to give it a bump. Apparently I was a good boy this year so Santa brought me a GoPro Hero 5 Black. @ Josh - would this standard setup work with the Hero 5 Black?

Absolutely. We haven't changed our official recommendation, only because we have not been able to test in the heat of the summer sun. However, we will be simulating a long hot recording in the near future, just to make the official change.

But unofficially, the Hero5 Black is the best camera GoPro has ever made. It is the camera we are using in all of our production work and really don't have anything bad to say about it. This is the setup and configuration we are using and, therefore, recommending:
GoPro Hero5 Configuration

Great camera. Highly recommend using the linear FOV if it fits the field you are working on. None of the distortion that GoPro cameras usually produce because of the wide focal length of the very small lens.

Great stuff, Josh! Thanks for the fast response. I'll start out with the SD card and LynkSpider for now and then build up from there (after your official recommendation). School ball doesn't start until late March/early April so I have plenty of time to get setup and perfect my filming and editing skills.

Speaking of editing - what is the best route to go? Quik Desktop? Splurge for Quik Plus? Or could I go with Windows Movie Maker? (My goal is to film our Summer tournament games and cut up some highlight videos for DD and her teammates.)

Also, should I go with the new Super Suit housing from GoPro for the Hero 5?

Up to you, but I think that case is probably overkill for recording ball games. First, it doesn't have an opening for plugging in a USB cable for external power. And really, it is mostly used for underwater use. So, even in the rain, the standard camera without the case is fine. When removing the side door for using a USB cable, I just stretch a zip top bag over the lens of the camera. Just poke a hole in the bag, stretch the hole over the lens, and cover the rest of the camera with the bag. You will be waterproof and still be able to record for hours on external power.
