Do you elect home or away? Why?

(Seemingly no advantage, but experience has shown that, at least for our team, there is an advantage being the away team.)

On Saturday always be visitor if first tiebreaker is runs allowed.

On Sunday it depends on how confident you are in your pitching and defense.

If your batting is wayyyy better than your defence, choose to be the visitor. This way you'll bat first and will afford you the opportunity to jump on them quick and demoralize their spirit!

At our last two tournaments of the past season, we ended up being the Away team at almost every game so I assumed he lost the coin toss.
At DD's first MS tournament, I'm not sure if her coach lost the coin toss or not - and I had never heard a coach say it this way before - but she said "We're scoring first.." which I thought was a better way to put it then just batting first. So maybe there is a advantage to it :)

Depends on if it is drop dead or finish the inning... Drop dead, always pick away... finish the inning/game, almost always home unless scouting says otherwise...

Depends on the team, and the day. I've noticed that if the girls' bats are on fire, hitting first is a good thing. They hit well, score a few runs, and feel confident going into their first inning of defense. With that confidence, they play better. Alternatively if they're slumping it can work the opposite way. And, if they're not playing well in the field and field first, their hitting can suffer. They just gave up 5 runs on errors in the top of the first and go into hitting already feeling defeated sometimes.

I always liked to be the home team so I know exactly what I need to do in the last inning of a close game (e.g. if I am down 1 run or 5 runs dictates how aggressive I need to be as we are the last team to play offense). You can also manage the clock better (which is a whole separate thread) and can finish the game a half inning earlier if winning going into the last half of the last inning (resting your players especially during the summer months). If you are the visiting, the other team always has an opportunity to come back in the bottom of the last inning.

The reason I like being visitor in pool is that if we happen to lose a game it give the other team one less at bat(unless a walk off). We don't have a shut down
pitcher and our D is our team weakness so it can mean the difference between gold and sliver to us. In the end if doesn't matter but that's why I choose it.
