Yup, way too many old guys set in their ways and refuse to change. They honestly believe that all the teams playing in PGF will return to ASA.... hahaha

Believe me, they will try to leverage the whole Olympic opportunity hard. It was their main leverage over teams and players before and they will be glad to have it back (instead of doing the hard work they should be doing).

U-Trip is slowly building from the bottom up - and they have immense financial power that neither ASA or PGF possesses. At U-Trip world series there were way more states saying that U-trip is dominating the local tournament scene than ever before, and their higher end programs have done better than I thought they would in the first couple of years.

If you put a fresh coat of paint on an old clunker, it is still the same old clunker. Granted the PGF California Softball love fest is really no better. Just two different organizations attempting to stay relevant. Like marriard said U-Trip is doing many of the right things. Including embracing technology that is well beyond where ASA or PGF is willing to go. USSSA certainly has the financial capital to outlast ASA. I doubt they really care about PGF who is truly a minor player with no legs that is comfortable a niche market.

Who dominates your local scene? Ours is still ASA (USA?) with a decent presence from both USSSA and NSA. Of course for the best teams PGF is still the goal but we usually only send a team or 2 per division.

USSSA has their fingers in too many sports. As usual, the attention to fastpitch will eventually wane. It happened in the 90's, then the 2000's, and soon the late 2010's.

I don't know about that right now. The WCWS ratings have been really good the last few years. The championship games last year did better than the CWS. Maybe it has leveled off but the growth, tv numbers, and push for women's sports, even in youth and high school age, seems it's still going up.

I think USSSA will really grow larger and larger over the next couple of years. PGF does offer good competition at nationals but on a local level for most of us not so much. Also it is hard from a lot of quality teams to make the trip to Cali when other options are available. I know several teams that competed in 12's and 14's at PGF this year will be in Chattanooga for ASA 14u Nationals next year.

ASA hinestly stinks at a local level for us and so many others. They were on a pedestal and made no attempt to get better for so long while these other organizations started growing.

In the Southeast USSSA pulling so many directors from USFA put them in a position to offer the premier competition fro younger ages. As those girls get older and coaches attend one USSSA tourney after another they will become more and more loyal to USSSA. Also if the competition grows for the WFC more teams will take the easier trip to KC that is centrally located versus going to either coast.

Though just because they are branding themselves this way, doesn't mean they really are.

Rebrand to USA Softball and new logo unveiled

Really? ASA (soon to be USA Softball) is recognized as the National Governing Body of Softball for the United States by both the International Olympic Committee and the World Baseball and Softball Congress. ASA selects, funds, and trains the USA National Softball Teams. Sounds to me like they are the chosen representative for USA Softball

USSSA dominates the MD/DE/VA/PA area. They hold the Eastern World Series in MD. This year 14U B had over 80 teams. 12U OPEN had over 70 Teams. Their tournaments are huge and cost the most. Hard to compete with that money.
