We were playing in 10u A championship game when it had to be stop because of bad weather moving in. Game was 0-0 in the top of fourth when game called. I said to just call it a tie. Ump wanted to do a coin flip. Then the other HC and I agreed to a ball roll so at least the kids where involved in the outcome.

Before we rolled me book keeper mentioned the deciding factor should be runs for and against like in pool play. which we would have easily won.

Problem was we were playing off sit of main tournament where TD and Main ump official was at and no one wanted to call over to find out.

Yes we lost the roll. Girls were more upset then me, but figured it would also be a good life lesson that sometimes s##t happens that you have no control over and have to move on.

Only problem with a tie breaker being pool play runs for is that if that is listed as a tie breaker it encourages running up the score when you are playing a weaker team. Runs against should be the tie breaker, and then run differential with a cap on the differential per game to discourage running up the score. When the oldest was play soccer that seemed pretty common in the tie breaker rules, goal differential was usually capped.

Some day you will look back at this weekend and laugh at the fact you took a 10U tournament so seriously...

Lol. My dd took a tie in a 18u championship game a month ago when a severe hate wagon of weather pulled in. So...a tie...3rd inning...dd's team 0 outs, runners 1st and 3rd...vs...a team they beat in pool play...and team that had loss once in bracket play (double elim)...dd's team undefeated.

I'm not upset at the out come. Just have to convince the girls its not that big of a deal and nothing they could have done about it.

Just wondering because it was a unusual situation.

It's not a tie, it's co-champions.

No way on a coinflip or a ball roll. We had one once that had a rule
that higher seed won.
