I saw that on ESPN this morning. Lol!! It's hard to see what the runner is doing when your eyes are closed. The only reason the catcher knew she went up over her head was because the runner's knee grazed her catchers helmet.

Edit: Her knee did not hit her catchers helmet. She must have opened her eyes just in time to see the runner going over her head.

I tried that once. Granted it was a slowpitch game in high school gym class. Catcher tagged my legs while I was in the air. I was out. Then when my chin broke my fall on home plate, I was out again.

Yours is the more common ending for such an attempt! That said, that's some remarkable athleticism displayed by the runner (and another good example why a catcher should never take their helmet off!).

I think it's great however as a mom of a catcher - hope it's not attempted much! I don't need my DD getting speared in the head with metal cleats!
