If the 12u rec girls don't start throwing correctly, I am going to have a coronary. I have been thinking of having a high frame, like a high bar, in gymnastics. The girl would need to lift her throwing arm high enough to swipe a piece of cloth hang from the bar. I don't know how to build it. I think the sides need to adjust, for height. Any ideas?

$1 pool noodle that someone holds?

Does the right leg need to go sideways or can it be straight?

A TARDIS to go back in time to stop the terrible habit from developing. Fought that battle for several seasons with our 12/14U players. Also a Delorean will work as well.

I would suggest using a rope in between poles high enough for your tallest player, and adjust the length of the cloth instead of the pole height.

A rope tied between sides of batting cage or fence with a cloth hanging from it should accomplish same thing and be much easier to create. If the players are short enough, the frame of a BowNet may work too.

Use pvc...cheap and light. Make the sides out of two pieces, one with a smaller diameter than the other. Drill multiple holes at different levels and use a bolt/wing nut to secure.

I think a bow net might work too, some velcro or rubber to keep a rope from moving should do it.

They will be stepping over the bottom part.

There was a hello elbow pitching gadget exactly like that that was being advertised at one time. They probably have overstock.

Improving throwing motion

I'm assuming your wanting them to throw more " over the top ". As you already know you are trying to change muscle memory. A method that worked for me was during initial warm up throwing I had the players throw parallel to the fence ( fence to the throwing side ) and stand 12" to 18" out from the fence. Make sure that both players stay close to the fence. If you have two righties they would have to rotate after X amount of throws. I would start out practice with this and then reinforce for about 15 minutes at the end of practice. You can also use this technique by putting a target along the fence and use a bucket of balls. After a month of this you should see the non fence throwing improve.
