This is NOT meant to pit one against the other or start a debate. The debate can be carried on at the other thread re: HS vs. TB.

It would be interesting to get a snap shot of the state of youth softball with the DFP community.

See the POLL above.

It is an unfair question because no TB or HS program (especially HS) is created equal.

My local HS softball program has great coach, a great set of players, good facilities and a lengthy history of success... Our TB girls who will go there can't wait to be part of the program as they age up.

The next high school literally down the road has an awful coach, horrible facilities and sometimes don't have a TB player on the team. Our TB girls who will go there debate on whether they will even try out. Most don't (the coach is REALLY that bad)

You ask girls at HS #1 - great experience. At #2- awful experience.

You missed the directive, marriard...no debating here. Just trying to get simple facts.

If your HS program is higher quality, then I'm assuming you voted "HS" ?

The "Simple Facts" are not a fair comparison between the two. I'm not debating but typically in TB you have a team with like-minded players, while many times in HS the players are just there in body.

Of course the Poll is going to show TB with more of a higher quality experience for the family.

No I didn't - because it is not a matter of higher quality experience - where I am located it is actually a really DIFFERENT experience.

Despite playing the same sport, it is hard to compare the two directly. They have their pros and cons but I am not sure how I would measure them against each other. I am lucky - my DD gets to go a HS where there is a REALLY good chance of a REALLY great experience. She is also a member of a very good travel program. Others are not so lucky.

So I haven't answered the poll.

Not sure I see the value of the poll. The results are very predictable. What are we learning from it? Not trying to be critical, but I like a couple of others seem to be struggling with the point of it.

I agree with Marriard.

Here competition is much higher at upper levels of travel ball but high school provides a lot of things that travel ball doesn't. That opportunity to play for a school. To learn to compete for playing time instead of being able to switch teams. To be the freshman, to be the senior. To have a set schedule where every game throughout the season counts towards an end goal instead of playing tournament style all of the time. To hopefully carry on pride and tradition that was set in place before you were there and will continue after you graduate.

If you want to go on to play college high level travel ball is going to better prepare you skill wise but high school will be your first look at things that will come into play in college.

Don't understand the poll either. In TB, you (mostly) pick a team with like minded player, and in some cases parents that get along. In HS, they get what shows up/zoned to the school.

I will say this, I spend WAY more money on the TB team, which causes me stress :( LOL.
